Facebook Timeline Is Finally Here

Facebook Timeline

From time to time, huge and famous social networking site like Facebook needs to develop into something new to keep their billions of users and to attract more. Being on top is not that easy to maintain, most especially when your competitors are just inches behind. The much talked about Facebook Timeline that has been introduced last September during the F8 conference is finally made available to all users. Facebook App Developers were the first one to make use of the interface and feedback were also taken from them. As usual it didn’t get all the positive ones just like any other new things being introduced to the world. For those who are shocked and…

However, today’s players know that the game has evolved in a big way in recent years, thanks to the invention of the internet and the ensuing (and still growing) explosion of online bingo players across the globe. This fun-filled article will take a quick look at how the timeless game of bingo has evolved as it continues to change from a game that was once played exclusively in bingo halls to one that is now globally accepted as an…

It is basically the ‘Disneyland’ of Android gadgets with on-site ‘experts’ who were trained by Google to attend to all of the customers’ questions and queries about the software and the hardware. Steve Jobs Resigns as Apple CEO

Steve Jobs

He once told his board of directors that if the day comes when he could no longer fulfill his duties as CEO; they would be the first to know. Well that day came and true to his promise, he told them… in a resignation letter with immediate effect. With that, Apple’s internal succession plan kicked into gear placing Tim Cook as the new CEO. Jobs, meanwhile, is now Chairman of the Board. For such as sudden move, it seems to me that his health condition is the primary reason. All this time, even during the years when he was out of the company, Steve is Apple and Apple is Steve. Here is a man who,…

The INgSOC Hybrid Bike – Vicious Eye Candy; Bad-Ass Ride

INgSOC Hybrid bike

Segway, move away; suddenly you look so obese. Awesome does not even begin to describe this ride. I mean, look at it. Oh, I realize you’re just looking and not reading. I can’t blame you. I was like that for a time. I just sat here stunned for I don’t know how long… spell-bound and rather half-expecting it to transform into an alien vixen robot. Alas, it didn’t; but I can dream. This hybrid bike is framed in carbon fiber-reinforced polymer, has an iPod dock, is chainless, and a gift from above. Wait, I got carried away on that last point. Chainless? So how does it run, you ask? Duh – hybrid, batteries – duh….

Version 2, Now For Paper

i2R e-Paper

Paperless – oh that word. It’s been years since that concept and objective have been flaunted around. We do manage to achieve a certain level of “paperless-ness.” More than half of the people I know do not have printers in their home setup. And companies are having varying level of success (or failure) to rid themselves of paper. But what do you know… we still have paper, and for good reason. I still prefer my pen and pad for capturing ideas and random thoughts while on the go, or even when I’m still. Kindle is nice but I like physical books for many of my reading (but not carrying) pursuits. And so, now we have,…

Lutron’s C-L Dimmers: Energy-Efficient Aesthetics

Lutron dimmer

Here’s something to complement those cool LED lights and reduce your electricity bills even further – a LED dimmer. But not just another dimmer, Lutron Electronics dimmers are made to work efficiently with CFLs and LED lights. Traditional dimmers usually fail to provide smooth and full-range dimming. They either have fixed setpoints (off, mid, full) or are unable to provide enough energy at low slider settings. Lutron’s C-L line of new dimmers use a technology they call HED that has improved circuitry to provide smooth dimming. Heck, it would even work with any dimmable light you have – LED, CFL, incandescent and halogen. And its thoughtful aesthetics will blend with your interiors. Each installed dimmer…

Philips AmbientLED Bulbs Are Super Efficient, Super Cool

Philips AmbientLED

Almost six years ago, due to rising electricity cost and consumption, our household went on a mission to replace all our aging and power-hungry appliances. Almost nothing was spared – television, refrigerator, air conditioner, microwave, flat iron, lights, etc. The result? Nice-looking new gears and almost half-price savings on the electric bill on the same month. Mission accomplished. Of all those replaced, the fluorescent and incandescent lights were my pet peeves. Especially incandescent. We were replacing them yearly if not more frequent. After that, I liked the soft glow of our CFLs with a bit more brightness but at a much lower wattage. Now, I want the new Philips AmbientLED bulbs. These LED bulbs conserve…

The Vinci, a Tablet for Babies

The Vinci Tablet

Just when I thought that tablets have become ubiquitous, something comes along to prove I am wrong. It seems there is a segment in our society that is considered an untapped market for this gadget — babies. That’s right, folks, they’re making tablets for babies now. While there is no shortage of electronic devices that are made for babies, I wonder what area a tablet would satisfy. It turns out, nothing new. Generally, it’s still all about stimulating babies’ minds and senses. That’s not to say that something is wrong with that; the intention is good. You get a tablet that’s limited to that focus and nothing else. The Vinci Touchpad is one such device….

Social Networks Will Come and Go But Your Profile Data Will Live On

nowhere

It is clear that most of the social media action will belong to Facebook and Google+ for at least the next several years. But while attention is focused on these two industry giants, have you ever considered that last generation’s social networks can continue to shape the landscape now and for quite some time onwards. And it’s all because of you. Friendster is not too far in the past to forget. After its time, many have deleted their accounts in favor or MySpace. Still, many simply abandoned theirs. Since there is plenty of evidence that deleting anything on the Net does not really delete them but are simply hidden from your view, what else can…

Keep Your Friends Close; Your Enemies, Closer

Google+ vs. Facebook

What do you think Facebook is doing while Google+ growing? A lot of things, of course. And I can tell you what they are NOT doing. They are not keeping distance. They have to be close enough to observe. How close? This close… Here’s just a partial list of Facebook employees who have profiles in Google+. It includes Mark Zuckerberg, no less! Mark Zuckerberg, founder and chief executive officer Christopher Cox, vice president of product Lori Goler, vice president of human resources and recruiting Dan Rose vice president of partnerships and platform marketing Sheryl Sandberg, chief operating officer Elliot Schrage, vice president of global communications, marketing and public policy Mike Schroepfer, vice president of engineering Bret Taylor, chief technology…

How Green Is The HP TouchPad?

HP TouchPad

Just recently, I noticed this tablet that HP is promoting as a green option to ultra portable computing. It is called the HP TouchPad. Now, be reminded that the rise of netbooks and tablets started on the premise that most activities users do on a computer do not require the processing power of regular laptops and desktops. By doing away with these “excess” resources we are able to build lower-cost devices without sacrificing user requirements. That is an improved approach and I agree that it is rather green. The ultra-portable market is generally marketed as green but HP’s TouchPad is the first specific device to bill itself with the label. What did HP do to…

4th Quarter Will See The Coming Of iPad 3 and iPhone 5

iPad

There is a reason companies are very secretive about new product launch dates. It is a common strategy to prevent from undercutting themselves. Imagine, if people knew that a new model would be coming out soon many of them will hold off purchasing the current release and simply wait. That would significantly impact sales of the current line. Besides, you want to capture as much of the market as you can. Not that Apple is struggling with sales. On the contrary, it is now the most popular consumer brand. Even so, it is all about maximizing profits. Apple is mum about when it would release the next line of its popular tablet and smartphone but…

MultiAccout: 2 Accounts in One Card

MultiAccount card

How many plastics do you have? I mean, in your wallet. You know, debit and credit cards and stuff? If you have more than a few, do you like it that way or would you prefer a more compact option? I used to carry seven (I know others with twice as many) and it was surely annoying. It made my card holder uncomfortably thick. I eventually had to evaluate their benefits and how much of it I can consolidate with fewer providers. Overtime, I streamlined my plastic-related routines that I’m now I’m down to just three cards. Still, I wondered if I can get away with just one card. But there was this one time…

Quicker Note-Taking? Use a Bamboo

Wacom Bamboo Stylus

Has this ever happened to you: You’re somewhere and suddenly you need to take note of something important or interesting – and idea, someone’s words or a visual gone too soon. You take out your tablet and you tap away on the onscreen QWERTY keyboard (at times with just one hand). The slow pace distracts you from the idea; you couldn’t ask that someone to repeat what he just said; can’t take a picture as it’s already gone. In all, you failed to adequately capture whatever it was you wanted. Sounds familiar? It happens more than enough to me that’s why I gotta have a Bamboo – Wacom’s Bamboo stylus, that is. Conventional pen and…

Asus Eee Pad Slider Looks Promising

Asus Eee Pad Slider

I’m holding out until the release of this tablet, err… netbook, err… well, whatever it is it looks great. Now I know that this is how I wanted the Pad Transformer to be. Though I liked the idea of that initial model, I didn’t like that the keyboard is detachable. It felt like a separate gadget. Using the tablet with it also makes the Transformer rather awkward to handle. The slide in/out motion of the Pad Slider removes that hassle. It’s also more streamlined even with the keyboard out. I’m hoping to test this out and that it satisfies my expectations so I can replace our two-year old Toshiba NB205 – Its keyboard and trackpad…
